The course is online and at your own pace. You can start as soon as you purchase the course. We do not currently offer in person classes.
To earn your Texas real estate salesperson license you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Show evidence of being fingerprinted through the approved statewide vendor for a Texas and federal background check
- Provide a Completion Certificate for a 30-hour pre-exam salesperson course from an accredited Texas real estate school
- Pass both portions of the Texas salesperson state examination
- Complete the 24-hour Texas Real Estate Practice Course (TREP) prior to submitting an application for a license. (TREP course can be taken before or after exam date but must be taken after successful completion of the 48-hour pre-exam salesperson course)
- Submit appropriate application materials to the Texas Real Estate Commission with all required fees
- Completed application for license must be submitted within six months of the completion date of the 48-hour pre-exam salesperson course

The time it takes to get your Texas real estate license depends on how quickly you complete your Pre-Licensing requirements, which includes Pre-Licensing coursework and passing the state licensing exam.
There are a number of costs and fees involved in obtaining a Texas real estate salesperson license. Variable costs include tuition and fees associated with completing your Pre-Licensing education requirement, and the cost to obtain your background check. Current salesperson examination fees are $52 to take both sections of the state licensing exam, and a $100 fee for the initial issuance of your license.

The Texas Real Estate Commission contracts with PSI Exams to facilitate and administer the states real estate licensing exam. PSI provides the Texas Real Estate Candidate Bulletin which provides details about registering for and taking the licensing exam, as well as the exam format, content structure, and exam scoring.
Complete application for license must be submitted within six months of the completion date of the 30-hour pre-exam salesperson course.

The course at Stepping Stone Real Estate School will incorporate written contents and quizzes after each chapter to help decide if you understand the material you read. The course is additionally broken down into units. At the end of every unit, you will take a quiz and need to score 80% or better before you can proceed to the next lesson. (Note that a few states require a marginally unique grade, which will be outlined in your course.)
Each student has 90 days from the date of purchase or another period as modified to complete the course. If the student does not complete the course within 90 days, they will be required to purchase an extension of the course and may then carry on where last left off.
